Research Consultation
Libraries provide a wide range of academic services that support the teaching, learning, and research activities of faculty and students. These services create opportunities for forward-thinking, 21st-century library programs and facilities tailored to serve the institute’s culturally diverse and academically gifted population. Libraries offer stimulating environments, learning spaces, and customer-centered services, all supported by cutting-edge technologies.

Interlibrary loan (ILL)
If patrons require an item not available in the institute’s collection, the SIRC team will attempt to borrow it from another library within the city or country via the Inter-Library Loan (ILL) arrangement.
- ILL Form: Patrons can request items through the ILL form for borrowing from external libraries.

Library Services
SIRC provides a wide variety of academic services designed to support the teaching, learning, and research needs of our faculty and students. These services are designed to ensure the development of forward-looking, 21st-century library programs that support the institute’s diverse academic community. The library fosters stimulating learning environments, customer-centered services, and cutting-edge technologies.

Reference Services
SIRC offers proactive reference services via the ‘Research Support Desk’ and ‘Information Desk,’ managed by the Public Services Unit and led by senior librarians. For further assistance, patrons can contact the library via:
- Email: library@superior.edu.pk
- Phone: 042-38103777 / EXT:926

Borrowing Services
SIRC extends borrowing privileges to registered members (faculty, students, and staff) based on the library’s borrowing policies. Materials can be borrowed and returned at the circulation desks of either campus library. Please note:
- Items such as reserves, audio/video materials, textbooks, journals, reference books, and CDs/DVDs cannot be borrowed.
- All borrowed materials are subject to recall.

Renewal Services
SIRC materials borrowed by members can be renewed or re-issued up to two times (depending on the item type). However, materials requested for reserve cannot be renewed.

Reservation Services
Members can reserve SIRC materials that are currently borrowed by others by either requesting it at the circulation desk or placing a hold through the library’s KOHA management system. Once a reservation is confirmed, the requester will be notified via email.

Searching Assistance
If a material is listed as ‘available’ in the online catalog but appears unavailable on the shelves, patrons may request searching assistance. To do so, they can fill out the ‘Searching Assistance Form’ at the circulation counter. Shelving assistants will verify the item’s status and location and notify the requester via email or phone regarding the item’s availability.
Instructional Support
The ‘Research Support Staff’ of the Public Services Unit curates available resources for instructional and research purposes. The staff helps faculty and students by providing relevant data/information to assist in course outline creation or in completing research projects and assignments.

SIRC staff assist patrons with literature searches on specific subjects or topics. Support includes:
- Choosing the right resources for your search
- Fine-tuning search strategies
- Identifying materials closely related to the research topic
- Supplying full-text articles, if needed
- Answering queries related to accessibility and delivery of materials
This service supports scholarly research by obtaining research articles not available within the scope of resources subscribed by the institute’s SIRC system. Document Delivery Service encompasses the delivery of any kind of documents that cannot be arranged through traditional ILL channels.
SIRC orientation sessions are held regularly to enhance the students’ Information Literacy to help them strengthen their academic learning. The Information Literacy Sessions can be held in small groups or in the form of in-class sessions.
