SIRC Usage Policy

  1. Users are not allowed to bring their personal belongings to the SIRC. All members are required to leave their personal belongings (Books, Files, Briefcases, Handbags, etc.) at the entrance of the SIRC (Personal Belonging Shelves)
  2. Don’t write, underline, or mark the SIRC books. The SIRC books are carefully examined on return, and the borrower will be held responsible for defacing or damaging to or losing SIRC book(s) in their possession.
  3. After the consultation,  not only shelve book(s) and leave them on the reading table, which the SIRC staff will keep in the exact place according to Call Number(s).
  4. Complete silence should be observed inside the SIRC except for the brief and subdued talk with the SIRC staff at the Circulation Desk or in any other Section of the SIRC.
  5. Drinks, and eatables are not allowed inside the SIRC.
  6. Any noise and smoking are strictly prohibited inside the SIRC.
  7. Keep mobiles silent or vibrating mode within the SIRC.
  8. Sleeping/ Hot Talk/ Un-necessary Discussion/ Loud Voice / Disturbance / Foot on tables & chairs/Unbalanced talk with colleagues are not allowed in the SIRC.
  9. The borrowed books will be renewed for a further period of 7 days if the desired book/book has/has not been reserved for another user. Overdue books will not be reissued.
  10. Thesis/ Dissertation, Annual Reports, Pamphlets, Periodicals, Newspapers, A/V materials, CDs, and Diskettes cannot be checked out. Such material is for consultation in the SIRC premises.
  11. If you accidentally misplace any book and cannot find it after a thorough search, report the matter to the Circulation Desk immediately to avoid an excessive fine.
  12. Nobody is allowed to reserve a seat for their colleague.
  13. Mutilation of the SIRC material is a matter of disciplinary action. However, books accidentally damaged should be reported promptly so that suitable assessment can be made and damages paid.
  14. In case a book is urgently required, the In-Charge of the SIRC may recall it at short notice at any time, and such a book shall be returned immediately by the borrower.
  15. Any material renewed before the due date will be considered lost or late.
  16. Students, faculty, and management staff are entitled to check out books (Excluding Text Reference books and General Reference books) for a specified period. The details are as follows;

SIRC Fine Policy

  1. The fine of PKR 10/- per book per day (starting after the close of the SIRC on due date) will be charged.
  2. The rule violation will lead to disciplinary action and a fine of PKR 1000/- If the pattern continues to violate the rules, the case will be referred to the Disciplinary Committee.
  3. Overdue and fine notices will be sent through official email. All SIRC fines are only paid at the Accounts office. The SIRC account will be blocked if the fine exceeds PKR 5000/-

Book Loss Policy

  1. In the case of the lost book, three times will be charged with the current market. If the lost item is out of print, then the amount also will be charged equal to three times.
  2. If the SIRC user fails to submit the lost or damaged material replacement cost. Then the amount will be deducted from the “Security Deposits” of the students; in case the stipulated amount exceeds the Security Deposits of the student, then the authorities reserve the right to withhold the issuance of the degree to the student concerned till he/she either replaces the lost book/ material or pays the specified amount.
  3. The borrowers not be able to borrow any SIRC material until the SIRC repurchases the lost or damaged material or receives written information from the Account Department that the required amount has been recovered from the borrower.
